Let's Be The Church

It's crazy how many believers are willing to bring the world into the church—you know, so that we can be more inclusive.

I get it. I really do understand the logic behind it.

Buuuuuttt, I have only one question.

Why can’t we, instead, bring the church to the world? To me, that’s what an inclusive church is all about. It’s about preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world, going to every corner of the earth and bringing the light of JESUS to the darkness!!

Mark 16:15 AMP— “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

There is a dying world out there. God calls us to be fishers of men. That means, we have to be willing to get dirty, smelly, sweat a bit, cast out and catch nothing over and over again. That means that we have to be willing to be persistent and celebrate for every fish we are able to bring to the Father and to keep trying to catch those who are trying to swim away!

I’m preaching to myself, too. Trust me. God has made me fully aware that I have not been doing enough. I would simply like for each one of us to be seriously challenged to do more reaching out, outside of the walls of a church building!

We can pray until we are blue in the face but God calls us to act! Praying is part of it, absolutely. But God commands every one of us, we have all been commissioned, to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

Matthew, chapter 9, ends with Jesus being moved with compassion for the great needs of the crowd surrounding Him.

“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.”
Matthew 9:36 NKJV

Jesus then tells His disciples that the harvest is plentiful and tells them to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers.

“Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is [indeed] plentiful, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
Matthew 9:37-38 AMP

So the disciples prayed.

Just like we do when we see the horrors happening in our world. The injustice of innocent babies dying. Innocent lives lost due to hatred. We become so angry at one another and want to yell until we are blue in the face about why you should vote one way or another! I know that many of us see the hatred and violence in the world and are many times moved by compassion.

Many of us pray. How do you pray? Jesus told the disciples exactly what to pray—for the Lord of the harvest to send out workers.

Then, Chapter 10, verse 1:
“Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority and power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.”
Matthew 10:1 AMP

You and I are the workers!!! And we are supposed to go out into the world! God has already prepared the harvest!

We are trying to come up with new and exciting ways to fill up our churches. When what we should be doing is coming up with new and exciting ways to bring the church to the people!!!

My friends, my brothers and sisters, we have a huge task at hand. But let us pray to the Lord of the harvest to prepare us, to equip us, to strengthen us, to empower us and to embolden us to step outside of our comfort zones and to be the church everywhere that He desires to send us. It could be at a grocery store, at the nail salon, at the gas station.

No matter where, be unashamed of the Gospel. Let your heart be for the saving of souls for the Kingdom of Heaven! Let us be burdened only by a desire to not allow ourselves to miss any which have been assigned to us.

I love you. May you be blessed and encouraged and feel empowered by the Holy Spirit to go out and be a radiant and shining light for the Kingdom!
